KATHMANDU: Nepal News presents this week’s Shot of the Week: a community-led effort in Lalitpur Metropolitan City Ward No. 14, where the Chyasal–Mahalaxmisthan section of the Chapagaun Dobato–Mahalaxmisthan corridor has long been regarded as one of the most accident-prone stretches of the Ring Road.
Local resident Madhav Dawadi says the area has already witnessed more than a dozen fatalities over the years due to repeated road accidents, making it a persistent safety concern for commuters and nearby residents.
In response, residents of Talchikhel, in coordination with the Lalitpur Metropolitan City, installed advanced traffic lights on April 22 as part of a broader effort to reduce accidents and improve road safety.
The initiative reflects a growing push for community-driven intervention in urban safety, turning a dangerous traffic corridor into a monitored and more controlled intersection.
