KATHMANDU: The number of people killed in a jeep crash in Rolpa has reached 20.
According to police, the jeep (Lu 1 Ja 4167) was traveling from Rukum Purba when it crashed at Jaljala in Ward-1 of Thawang Rural Municipality, Rolpa.
The vehicle reportedly fell about 800 meters down a steep cliff.
Police suspect that the jeep was carrying passengers heading to a local fair at Jaljala in Thawang. A fair is traditionally held in Jaljala on the occasion of Baisakh Purnima.
Rescue operations are still ongoing, and the identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.
