Nepal secures thrilling 6-run victory over UAE in ICC World Cup League 2

KATHMANDU: Nepal registered a narrow but exciting 6-run win against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the ICC World Cup Cricket League 2 match on Friday.

Chasing a revised target of 255 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method, UAE were restricted to 248 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 38 overs.

Muhammad Shahdad top-scored for UAE with 65 runs off 72 balls, hitting four boundaries and two sixes.

Khuzaima Tanveer played a quickfire knock of 49 runs off 26 balls. Harpreet Singh contributed 41 runs off 40 balls, while Akshdeep Nath and Aryansh Sharma added 36 and 33 runs respectively.

For Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane led the bowling attack with three wickets.

Nandan Yadav and Sompal Kami took two wickets each.

Earlier, after winning the toss and batting first at the Tribhuvan International Cricket Stadium, Nepal posted 289 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs.

Dipendra Singh Airee starred with a brilliant century, scoring 100 runs off 94 balls, including 13 fours and a six.

Binod Bhandari added 56 runs off 79 balls, while Gulshan Jha contributed 44 runs off 38 balls.

For UAE, Junaid Siddique and Ajay Kumar took two wickets each, while Khuzaima Tanveer and Haider Ali claimed one wicket apiece.

Rain interruptions affected the match, leading to a revised target for UAE under the Duckworth-Lewis method.
