Heavy rainfall predicted in several provinces today

KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds currently remain active across the country.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the monsoon trough has shifted slightly north of its average position, moving closer to the Terai region of Nepal. As a result, weather conditions across the country have changed.

Currently, most parts of the country are experiencing cloudy skies.

Light to moderate rainfall is underway in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.

The division also noted that one or two places in Madhesh and Sudurpashchim provinces are experiencing rain.

On Monday, skies are expected to remain mostly cloudy in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, while Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces will see generally cloudy conditions.

Regarding rain and snow, there is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in many mountainous and high-altitude areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

A similar weather pattern is expected in a few mountainous locations of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

Furthermore, many places in the hilly and Terai plains of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are likely to experience moderate rainfall with lightning.

The division highlighted that some hilly and Terai areas of Madhesh, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces, along with a few hilly areas of Karnali Province, could also see moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder.

According to the division, there is a possibility of heavy rain in a few places within the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

Additionally, meteorologists have urged the public to take necessary precautions as heavy rain could trigger in one or two locations of the Madhesh Province plains as well as the Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
