KATHMANDU: A landslide has blocked Kathmandu-Hetauda traffic after debris fell at Pangdur in Bagmati Rural Municipality–4 of Lalitpur.

The incident occurred at around 5:00 am on Sunday, completely halting traffic along the shortest route connecting Kathmandu and Hetauda.

According to the Valley Traffic Police Office, a massive pile of landslide debris has obstructed the road, stopping vehicular movement from both directions.

Efforts are currently underway to clear the debris and resume traffic. Similarly, traffic has also been affected along the Suryabinayak–Sanga section of the Araniko Highway, which is currently under expansion.

Vehicles have been unable to operate due to slippery road conditions caused by rainfall. Traffic police have urged drivers traveling along this stretch to remain cautious and strictly follow traffic rules.

Authorities have warned of increased accident risks due to ongoing road construction and wet conditions.
