NAIROBI: At least 10 people have died in Kenya this week due to flash floods triggered by continuous heavy rainfall, police confirmed.

According to the National Police Service, most of the casualties were reported in the eastern region, where roads have been blocked and large numbers of people displaced, causing severe disruption to communities.

Police said 10 deaths have been confirmed so far, including seven in the eastern region alone.

The floods also destroyed two major bridges, severely affecting transportation and the movement of goods in coastal and eastern areas.

Authorities have urged residents in high-risk and affected areas to remain alert, avoid flooded zones, and follow instructions from local authorities.

Earlier in March, floods in Kenya had killed at least 112 people. \

Experts say climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of such natural disasters.
