KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel has returned the “Constitutional Council (Functions, Duties, Powers and Procedures) (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2026” to the government for reconsideration.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Office of the President said that the ordinance, which was recommended following a Cabinet decision on April 27, has been returned as it requires further review of its contents.

The press statement issued by Presidential spokesperson Ritesh Kumar Shakya also cites previous developments as key reasons for returning the ordinance.
