KATHMANDU: Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has held a courtesy meeting with the European Union Ambassador Veronique Lorenzo.

During the meeting held in Lainchaur on Monday, greetings were exchanged, followed by discussions on various aspects of bilateral relations.

Vice President Yadav expressed satisfaction over the friendly and cordial relations between Nepal and the European Union that have been maintained since 1974.

He stated that Nepal places high importance on its partnership with the EU.

He also noted that EU-supported programmes in sectors such as health, education, energy, and rural development have been beneficial for Nepal, and expressed confidence that the scope of cooperation would further expand into productive sectors in the coming days.

Highlighting that EU-supported projects, particularly in Karnali Province, have benefited people in remote areas, the Vice President appreciated the cooperation and emphasized shared values such as democracy, freedom, and multilateralism in Nepal–EU relations.

He further stressed that multilateral cooperation is essential to address global challenges such as pandemics and climate change, and said Nepal is ready for deeper collaboration in these areas.

Vice President Yadav also informed that the government has prioritized good governance, transparency, and effective public service delivery through a 100-point action plan, along with a strong focus on rapid economic growth.

He added that tourism, hydropower, infrastructure, and information technology have been identified as key sectors for economic growth with goals of job creation, infrastructure development, and increasing per capita income, expressing confidence that the EU will remain a reliable partner for Nepal in this journey.
