KATHMANDU: The Nepal Bar Association is holding an emergency meeting today at 2 pm to discuss the recommendation for the appointment of the next Chief Justice.

Nepal Bar Association President Dr. Bijay Mishra said the meeting was called to formulate the organization’s position after Thursday’s Constitutional Council meeting decided to recommend Supreme Court Justice Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma for the post of Chief Justice despite him being fourth in seniority.

According to Mishra, advisers to the Bar, constitutional experts, legal scholars and former office-bearers have been invited to the meeting.

He said the Bar would make its official position public after receiving their suggestions.
