KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee of the House of Representatives has moved ahead with the hearing process for Supreme Court Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma, who has been recommended for the position of Chief Justice.

A committee meeting held on Friday at Singha Durbar decided to call for complaints against the proposed Chief Justice Sharma.

A 10-day period has been allocated for submitting complaints as part of the hearing process.

Complaints or information can be submitted within 10 days from the date of publication of the notice, either through electronic means or any other medium, with clear justification.

The committee will open, review, and study the complaints in its meeting scheduled for May 19.

As per constitutional provisions, the recommended candidate is appointed by the President after parliamentary hearings approve the nomination.

Earlier on Thursday, a meeting of the Constitutional Council had recommended Supreme Court Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma for the post of Chief Justice.
