India supports school infrastructure project in Achham

KATHMANDU: The foundation stone for the construction of Shree Basuki Secondary School in Mellekh Rural Municipality-4 of Achham district was jointly laid on Tuesday by officials from Nepal and India.

The ceremony was attended by First Secretary of the Embassy of India in Kathmandu Narayan Singh and Mellekh Rural Municipality Chair Jwala Singh Saud.

The school building is being constructed with financial assistance of approximately Rs 38 million from the Government of India under its High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) scheme. The project will be implemented through the Mellekh Rural Municipality.

Local representatives and stakeholders expressed appreciation for India’s support, stating that the new infrastructure is expected to improve the learning environment for students and teachers in the area.

The Indian Embassy stated that such projects reflect ongoing bilateral cooperation between India and Nepal across multiple sectors, with a focus on supporting infrastructure development and strengthening local-level growth initiatives.
