KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress Karnali Province Working Committee has issued a “10-point formula” aimed at strengthening party unity and setting a future course.
The decision was made following a two-day discussion program titled “Greater Unity and Future Direction of Congress,” held in Birendranagar, Surkhet, and concluded on Sunday.
The first point of the formula calls for the 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress to be held as a unity convention.
The second point urges the Central Disciplinary Committee to withdraw actions and clarifications sought against leaders and cadres nationwide to create an atmosphere of unity.
The document also emphasizes ensuring 25 percent youth representation at all levels of the party, along with inclusion principles and adaptation to global technological developments.
It further calls for a mature and shared approach to geopolitical sensitivity, commitment to protecting Nepal’s sovereignty and federal democratic system, and immediate efforts to build a joint mechanism among democratic forces under Congress leadership.
Other points include addressing inflation, ensuring trade union rights under national and international laws, disaster protection, responsible opposition roles in Parliament, and coordination with the government for significant budgetary provisions for Karnali’s development in the fiscal year 2026/27 budget.
Karnali Province Committee President Lalitjung Shahi said the formula covers key issues for party unity and policy direction.
