KATHMANDU: Traffic Police have fined Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker and former minister Bablu Gupta Rs 500 after a video showing him standing on the back of a moving motorcycle drew widespread criticism on social media.

Gupta, the House of Representatives member from Siraha-1, was seen performing the risky stunt while riding through his hometown.

The incident prompted criticism from the public, with many accusing the lawmaker of setting a poor example by disregarding road safety rules.

Following the backlash, Gupta apologized on social media, acknowledging that he had violated traffic rules.
