KATHMANDU: Zohra Sports Management has announced the withdrawal of all cases filed against the Cricket Association of Nepal in various courts.
Managing Director Aamir Akhtar issued a press statement on Monday, saying the company is ready to immediately withdraw all legal cases against CAN.
Zohra Sports had filed cases in the Supreme Court, Kathmandu District Court, and Patan High Court over issues related to the official status, ownership, and intellectual property rights of the Nepal Premier League.
Akhtar stated that he has long spoken out against irregularities in the sports sector since his playing career and clarified that going to court was not driven by personal grudges but by the goal of reforming and developing the sports industry.
He also said the request made by the National Sports Council to unite all stakeholders for the development of sports was welcome, and the cases were withdrawn as a gesture of respect.
However, Akhtar clarified that ownership of “Nepal Premier League Private Limited,” which is registered in his name, and its bank account will remain under his control.
He further expressed commitment to continue cooperating with concerned bodies for the development of cricket and sports in Nepal.
