KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives was disrupted on Thursday after opposition lawmakers protested during the presentation of a proposed election-related ordinance.

Speaker Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal had allotted time for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sobita Gautam to present the bill on behalf of Prime Minister Balen Shah, who also holds the portfolios of Home Affairs, Defence, and Science, Technology and Innovation.

As the minister began presenting the proposal, lawmakers from opposition parties including the Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), Nepali Communist Party, and the Shram Sanskriti Party stood up in protest and obstructed the proceedings.
