KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Thapa has issued a stern warning to the government, cautioning it against political arrogance fueled by legislative numbers.

Speaking at a party event in Sunsari, Thapa presented five critical questions and recommendations, urging the government to remain accountable and focus on public welfare.

Thapa warned that no leader is above the law, regardless of popularity or numbers.

Reminding the leadership of past failed majority governments, he urged the current administration to remain accountable and respect constitutional limits.

Condemning the demolition of squatter settlements without relocation plans, Thapa also slammed the arbitrary arrests of bank CEOs and business owners.

He warned that the Nepali Congress would actively resist such unlawful actions.

Thapa called for urgent relief against soaring fuel prices and fertilizer shortages crippling citizens and farmers.

He also criticized the government’s sluggish response to the Rs 100 billion cooperative fraud crisis and failing health insurance systems.

Warning the government not to treat the 2015 Constitution lightly, Thapa stated that amendments cannot be decided secretly by a few individuals.

He demanded an inclusive process to prevent national instability.

Thapa demanded the prosecution of those responsible for the Gen Z protest violence and called for the release of the Human Rights Commission report.

On governance, he challenged the Prime Minister and ministers to face public scrutiny over their property and asset sources.
