KATHMANDU: Two young boys have died after drowning in the Sunkoshi River within the Sunkoshi Rural Municipality area of Sindhuli district.

The victims include a 9-year-old boy (originally from Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-4, currently residing in Ward No. 3, Bohoretar) and a 10-year-old boy (originally from Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-5, Bandipur, also currently residing in Bohoretar).

According to the police, the incident occurred at around 3:00 PM on Sunday while the boys were swimming in a branch channel of the river at Sitkha. Following the incident, a joint search team comprising the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and local residents recovered the bodies of both children.
