KATHMANDU: During a courtesy meeting in Kathmandu, House of Representatives Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal and South Korean Ambassador Park Tae-young discussed strengthening bilateral relations, investment, technology, labor, and parliamentary partnerships.

Speaker Aryal praised Korea’s ongoing contributions to Nepal’s development, education, and health sectors, noting that Nepal’s new government offers an increasingly favorable environment for foreign investment.

He specifically urged Korean investors to target Nepal’s expanding IT sector, requested facilitation for direct Nepal Airlines flights to Seoul, and announced that the formation of a Nepal-Korea Parliamentary Friendship Group is in its final stages.

Ambassador Park reaffirmed Korea’s commitment to Nepal as a key development partner, highlighting that around 120,000 Nepalis have benefited from the Employment Permit System (EPS), with 50,000 currently working in Korea.

Acknowledging the vital role Nepali workers play in Korea’s manufacturing and agricultural industries, the Ambassador assured that the Korean government prioritizes worker safety and dignity, while actively supporting entrepreneurship programs for returning migrants.
