KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives meeting, which was adjourned earlier for 15 minutes, has resumed. However, opposition parties instantly disrupted the proceedings as soon as the session recommenced.

Following the immediate uproar, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal allocated floor time for the opposition to speak.

Ramesh Malla, a lawmaker representing the Communist Party of Nepal, spoke on behalf of the opposition block to lodge an official point of order against statements made by a Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) MP during the earlier session.

RSP MP Jagdish Kharel had dismissed the opposition’s protest in the house by calling it a “tamasha” (spectacle). This comment sparked severe outrage from the opposition benches, particularly drawing a furious reaction from Nepali Congress lawmaker Narendra Kumar Kerung.

Condemning the remark as completely unparliamentary, MP Malla demanded that the word be expunged from the official records of parliament.

The highly tense and chaotic atmosphere in the hall had initially forced Speaker Aryal to announce the 15-minute suspension to regain control of the house.
