Nepal and US reaffirm bilateral ties during high-level telephone conversation

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal held a productive telephone conversation today with the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Allison Hooker, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations and mutual cooperation.

During the conversation, Under Secretary Hooker congratulated Minister Khanal on assuming his office and conveyed the United States Government’s strong commitment to working closely with the Government of Nepal.

Expressing his appreciation for the congratulations, Minister Khanal extended sincere gratitude to the US Government for its consistent and valuable cooperation in Nepal’s overall socio-economic development.

He further briefed the US Under Secretary on the current government’s overarching priorities, highlighting a commitment to good governance and boosting economic growth. Minister Khanal noted that Nepal is actively targeting strategic investments in key sectors including infrastructure, energy, tourism, and digital technology.

In response, Under Secretary Hooker highly appreciated Nepal’s national development priorities and affirmed the United States’ continued support toward achieving these goals.

Reflecting on their eight-decade-long cooperative history, both dignitaries reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening bilateral and multilateral partnerships to yield mutual benefits for both nations.
