KATHMANDU: The government has announced plans to expand health insurance coverage to 90% of the population within three years and build modern cricket stadiums in eight major cities over the next five years.

Presenting the federal budget for fiscal year 2026/27, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle said the health insurance program will be restructured to improve service delivery, simplify claims, and expand hospital participation.

The government also pledged to develop international-standard cricket stadiums to promote sports infrastructure, support domestic talent, and attract international tournaments.
