ACHHAM: Two people died and three others were injured when a jeep met with an accident last night on the Mid-Hill Highway at Thapamod, located in Ward No. 4 of Panchadeval Binayak Municipality, Achham.
The jeep, with registration number Ba Pra 01-027 Cha 2277 and belonging to Satlok Ashram in Janakpur, was en route from Darchula to Jumla when it veered off the road and plunged approximately 200 meters down.
According to Om Prakash Khanal, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Chief of the Achham District Police Office, the deceased have been identified as 41-year-old Nabin Tuladhar from Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City, Makwanpur, and 45-year-old Ram Prasad Tharu from Bansgari Municipality-5, Bardiya.
Both succumbed to their injuries during treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Surkhet.
The injured individuals currently undergoing treatment are 27-year-old Santa Kumar Sah from Kalyanpur Municipality-10, Siraha; Arjun Kumar Paudel from Phedikhola Rural Municipality-4, Syangja; and the jeep driver, 28-year-old Raj Rajendra Bhimraj Chattan Gupta from Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-5.
A police team deployed from Belkhet immediately rescued the victims and rushed them to the Rakam Karnali Basic Hospital in Rakam, Dailekh.
Following preliminary first-aid treatment at the local facility, they were referred to Surkhet for further medical care.
