KATHMANDU: A seven-day workshop titled “Quantitative Data Analysis Methods and Tools in Research (SPSS & SmartPLS)” has commenced at the Tribhuvan University (TU) Central Campus in Kirtipur. The event is organized by the Office of the University Campus Principal.

The intensive workshop is primarily designed to enhance the research capabilities of young faculty members and researchers currently involved across various educational wings of TU. Over the course of seven days, the sessions will focus on a wide array of research skills, including developing research capacity, understanding research methodologies, data collection and analysis techniques, the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in research, and advancing communication skills.

Inaugurating the workshop at the Principal’s Office, the Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, Prof. Dr. Sushil Bahadur Bajracharya, emphasized that TU is not just a teaching institution but a premier research-led university. He highlighted that over a thousand research articles are published annually in top-tier international journals, reflecting a growing research culture and increasing interest among faculty members.

However, Vice-Chancellor Bajracharya noted that due to the lack of an integrated data system, the university still needs to put in more effort to boost its international competitiveness and global rankings. He expressed optimism that the research and technological insights gained during this workshop would be effectively passed down to classrooms to enrich students’ learning experiences.

Welcoming the attendees, the Principal of the University Campus Kirtipur, Prof. Dr. Akkal Dev Mishra, outlined the core objectives of the workshop. He stated that the training aims to bolster the research proficiency of teachers and adapt modern researchers to the multidimensional changes hitting research methodologies due to technological expansion.

During the inaugural session, Prof. Dr. Chet Raj Bhatta, Head of the Central Department of Mathematics, and Sanam Oli, Acting President of the Free Students’ Union (FSU), also shared their best wishes for the success of the program.

The seven-day workshop will feature specialized facilitation from prominent experts and academics, including Dr. Ramesh Adhikari, Dr. Bharat Singh Thapa, Dr. Bed Prasad Dhakal, Dr. Megh Raj Banjara, Dr. Sirjan Lal Shrestha, Dr. Leela Nyaichyai, Engineer Ujjwal Koirala, and Dr. Narayan Prasad Koju.
