KATHMANDU: The task force formed to prepare the draft proposal for constitutional amendment has received a total of 44,613 suggestions from citizens.

Following a public notice issued by the task force’s secretariat on May 22 requesting written feedback on necessary reforms and amendments, Nepali citizens actively submitted their input.

According to Liladhar Subedi, the member-secretary of the task force, 19,239 suggestions were received via email, while 25,374 were submitted through the social media platform WhatsApp.

The written call for feedback was aimed at ensuring the participation of all Nepali citizens in the constitutional amendment process.

Member-Secretary Subedi shared that the major recommendations from citizens center around an executive presidency, a review of federalism, the restructuring and review of constitutional bodies, electoral system reforms, the appointment of judges through competitive processes for judicial reform, and setting qualification criteria for elected representatives.

The task force is currently studying the collected suggestions.
