Gandaki province government unveils policies, programmes

GANDAKI: Gandaki province government has unveiled policies and programmes for coming fiscal year 2026/27.

Chief of Gandaki Province, Dilli Raj Bhatta, presented the policies and programmes in the meeting of the province assembly held on Tuesday.

The policies and programmes for next fiscal year have given priority to agriculture and tourism, adopting long-term vision ‘Self-Reliant and Prosperous Province: Happy Gandaki Folks’ as guiding principle.

Emphasis has been laid on agricultural modernization, mechanization, diversification and commercialization.

Province Chief Bhatta shared that a campaign ‘Return to Village’ would be launched by providing interest-free subsidized loan to those willing to do commercial farming and operate agro-based industry.

Agriculture insurance programme should be made more effective, reads the policies and programmes, adding land plotting, potato and spring paddy promotion programme and corridor-targeted agriculture development programme would be continued.

Integrated tourism development concept would be implemented in Pokhara while religious tourism circuit would be developed by linking religious sites including Damodar Kunda, Muktinath, Galeshwor, Panchakot, Devghat and Tribenidham.

The policies and programmes also mentioned that programmes—’First at home and then abroad’ and ‘Lake to lake’ would be run to promote domestic tourism.

A target has been set to increase the number of tourists visiting from India and China by double within next five year. –
