KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal is departing for an official visit to India today, Friday, as formally announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

While initially scheduled to depart on June 3, the itinerary was slightly adjusted due to technical reasons.

During his trip to New Delhi, Foreign Minister Khanal, representing the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP)-led government, is scheduled to hold high-level bilateral talks with his Indian counterpart, S. Jaishankar, and other top officials.

According to ministry sources, a key agenda for Foreign Minister Khanal will be discussing a potential upcoming visit to India by Prime Minister Balendra “Balen” Shah.

Additionally, the meetings are expected to cover matters of mutual bilateral interest as well as ongoing Nepal-India border disputes.

This diplomatic push follows the high-profile reception of RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane’s delegation currently in India, who recently held a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
