DANG: An ‘AI X-ray’ machine has been used to identify infected people so as to help the campaign of freeing Tulsipur of Dang district from tuberculosis.

Shiva Prasad Tiwari, the focal person, informed that out of 19 wards in Tulsipur, patients with tuberculosis have been detected using ‘AI X-ray’ in 17 wards.

The AI-enabled machine has been applied to identify infected individuals, which has made it easier for doctors to diagnose tuberculosis.

‘Earlier, tuberculosis was diagnosed using regular X-rays,’ he said, adding, ‘Now we detect the disease using AI X-rays, which has eased its treatment.’

Om Prasad Neupane, Head of the Public Health Promotion Section at Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City, stated that AI X-ray can detect tuberculosis infections that are not visible even under regular microscopy.

Under the campaign to make Tulsipur a tuberculosis-free municipality, people with TB are identified and treated integrating the AI machinery.

Currently, the programme is being implemented in its second year.
