KATHMANDU: On the third trading day of the week today (Wednesday), the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) declined by double digits. Following fluctuations throughout the day, NEPSE ultimately closed down by 13.95 points. NEPSE’s turnover amount also decreased compared to the previous day.
NEPSE had increased by 7.25 points on Tuesday and by 41.70 points on Monday. Declining by 0.51 percent compared to the previous trading day, NEPSE stopped at 2,712.54 points today.
Today, the Sensitive Index also fell by 2.10 points to stop at 470.31 points. On a percentage basis, this is 0.44 percent lower than the previous trading day. Similarly, the float index dropped by 0.41 percent and the sensitive float index fell by 0.36 percent.
In the stock market on Wednesday, at least 11,362,465 shares of 346 companies were bought and sold across 56,094 transactions. Accordingly, a turnover of Rs 5.187 billion was recorded on Wednesday. On Tuesday, a turnover of Rs 6.671 billion was recorded in NEPSE. Likewise, on Monday, a turnover of Rs 5.512 billion was transacted.

Share prices of 77 companies increased in NEPSE today. While share prices of 193 companies declined, share prices of seven companies remained stable. Among the 13 sub-indices traded in NEPSE today (Wednesday), indices for finance and manufacturing & processing subgroups increased, while the remaining 11 subgroup indices moved downward.
Accordingly, in NEPSE on Wednesday, the Commercial Bank sub-index fell by 0.27 percent and the Development Bank sub-index dropped by 0.24 percent, while the Finance sub-index rose by 0.49 percent.
Similarly, Hotel and Tourism dropped by 0.31 percent, Hydropower by 0.57 percent, Investment by 0.50 percent, and the Life Insurance subindex fell by 0.65 percent.
While the Manufacturing & Processing sub-index increased by 0.45 percent, Microfinance fell by 0.42 percent, Mutual Fund by 0.07 percent, Non-Life Insurance by 1.26 percent, Others by 0.98 percent, and the Trading sub-index declined by 2.60 percent.
In NEPSE on Tuesday, investors of Everest Color earned 14.99 percent. Meanwhile, investors of the NCC Debenture-2086 lost 7.16 percent in share value.
In terms of turnover amount, Ridi Power Company stood at the top today. On Wednesday, it recorded a turnover of Rs 423 billion.
Similarly, based on the number of shares traded, Ridi was also at the forefront today. On Wednesday, at least 117,447 units of its shares were traded. Its final trading price today was set at Rs 386 per share.
