BANGKOK: The Embassy of Nepal in Bangkok has issued an urgent notice regarding 66 Nepali citizens who have gone out of contact in Cambodia.

They have been instructed to arrange connecting flight tickets and return to Nepal by June 12, 2026.

Previously, the Cambodian government had facilitated the repatriation of 602 Nepali citizens who overstayed their visas by waiving visa fees and fines.

However, despite multiple attempts to reach them via email, phone, and WhatsApp, these remaining 66 individuals have shown no readiness to return.

Under Cambodia’s strict new laws, foreign nationals who fail to leave within the stipulated timeframe face rigorous investigation.

Violators could encounter severe legal consequences based on the nature of their offense, including fines up to $500,000 and life imprisonment for staying illegally without a valid legal basis.
