KATHMANDU: Traffic services on major highways have been affected due to rainfall in various parts of the country and ongoing road maintenance.

Many road sections remain fully or partially closed due to floods, landslides, and repair work.

The Satungal-Chitlang road section, which connects to the Kathmandu Valley, has been completely blocked since May 30.

It has been informed that this road will remain closed for another month for maintenance work following a landslide at Deurali Devisthan in Chandragiri Municipality-9.

Traffic is operating only one-way due to flooding in Bokhim of Bhojpur and Dobhan of Panchthar.

Meanwhile, transportation has been completely halted since May 16 due to a landslide at Pankhu Khola in Khotang.

The Mechi Corridor has been completely blocked due to flooding in the Puwa Khola of Ilam.

However, it has been stated that the Mechi Highway can be used as an alternative route.

In view of the potential risk of flooding, vehicular movement has been banned on the Kavrepalanchowk section of the BP Highway since June 5.
