DOLAKHA: Eleven indigenous Jirel women from Ward No. 4 of Jiri Municipality have completed the second phase of a Naumati Baja (traditional Nepali ensemble) training program.

The 10-day workshop built on earlier training, with participants sharpening their basic musical skills through hands-on practice sessions.

At the closing ceremony, municipal officials encouraged the trainees to use their new skills for income generation and greater participation in cultural and community activities. Chief Administrative Officer Raj Kumari Khatri highlighted the program’s role in boosting women’s confidence and preserving local traditions.

Ward Chair Pademan Jirel presided over the event, while Mayor Mitra Jirel said women play a key role in safeguarding indigenous music and cultural heritage, reaffirming the municipality’s support for such initiatives.

Organized under the Jirel Women’s Group led by Chairperson Sirjana Jirel, the training is expected to strengthen both cultural preservation and women’s economic empowerment.
