KATHMANDU: At least three people were killed and 122 others injured in road traffic accidents reported across Nepal within the last 24 hours, according to official data of Nepal Police.
The figures indicate a worrying rise in road-related casualties nationwide, with fatal accidents recorded in Lumbini and Gandaki provinces, while several other regions reported a high number of injuries.
Lumbini Province recorded the highest number of deaths, with two people losing their lives and six others sustaining injuries in separate traffic incidents. Gandaki Province reported one fatality during the reporting period, with no additional injuries documented.
Madhesh Province registered the highest number of injuries nationwide, with 30 people hurt in various road accidents, although no fatalities were reported.
Karnali Province and Koshi Province each recorded 25 injuries, making them among the most affected regions in terms of non-fatal casualties. Neither province reported any deaths.
In the Kathmandu Valley, 17 people were injured in various traffic accidents, while Bagmati Province, excluding the Valley, reported 13 injuries. Sudurpashchim Province recorded the lowest casualty figures, with five people injured and no fatalities.
