BIRATNAGAR: Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Hikmat Kumar Karki, has described the police organization as the ‘ first government’ to citizens.
Inaugurating the Province-level ‘Crime Investigation Review Seminar’ jointly organised by the Crime Investigation Department (CID), Nepal Police Headquarters and the Koshi Province Police Office today, the Chief Minister was of the view that police organization should be accountable to public concerns and queries regarding the organization.
As he said, a control-oriented approach towards organization could impact crime investigation procedures, and the State is also responsible for addressing limitations of means and resources for the organization and shortcomings within it.
Stating that enacting policies and acts for the Nepal Police should be a government priority, he pledged full support to establish a DNA testing lab and implement a digital system in the police administration. He acknowledged the Nepal Police roles in maintaining peace and order in the society, and in crime investigation.
Chief of Koshi Province Police Office, Binod Ghimire, Chief District Officer in Morang, Yubaraj Kattel, were among others attending the event.
