RIPANDEHI: A self-defence training has been provided to as many as 190 teenage girls from four community schools of Bhairahawa, Rupandehi district.
The Social Development Division of Lumbini Province government organized the training, which was managed by the Bhairahawa Taekwondo Club.
Fifty female students from Bhairahawa Model Secondary School, similar number of students from the Leelaram Neupane Secondary School and the Paklihawa Secondary School participated in the two-week long training, according to taekwondo coach Prakashman Rajbhandari.
He further said 40 from Suryadev Secondary School received the training that concluded on June 13.
During the closing ceremony of the training held recently, chairperson of ward no 5 of Siddharthanagar Municipality-5, Purna Prasad Shrestha, highlighted the importance of self-defence, arguing that the training is the need of the hour as part of individual safety.
