DHAKA: Bangladesh’s measles outbreak continues to worsen, with health authorities reporting one additional child death in the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of confirmed and suspected fatalities to 657.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, the latest death is classified as suspected, while confirmed measles deaths remain at 93. More than 1,000 new suspected infections and 136 laboratory-confirmed cases were recorded during the reporting period.
Since mid-March, nearly 88,000 suspected cases have been reported nationwide, with over 72,000 patients requiring hospitalization. Most patients have since recovered, but health officials remain concerned as the outbreak continues to spread.
