DUBAI: To revitalize air travel, which has been affected by ongoing geopolitical tensions in the West Asia and conflicts related to Iran, major airlines in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have launched comprehensive travel insurance and health protection schemes.
Emirates Airlines, the UAE’s national carrier, announced a new travel insurance package on Wednesday, aiming to provide passengers with added security and reliability.
The new plan includes coverage for extended medical treatment expenses in the event of conflict or unexpected emergencies, trip cancellations or delays, flight interruptions, lost baggage, and emergency evacuation services.
Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airlines, stated that due to growing concerns regarding safety and insurance coverage among international passengers recently, the company has expanded its services to meet customer needs.
According to him, maintaining passenger confidence is essential to further strengthening Dubai’s position as a premier global tourism and transit hub.
“Many travel insurance plans available in the market do not adequately cover conflict or extraordinary circumstances,” Clark said. “Therefore, we have introduced this new feature with the aim of giving passengers greater peace of mind.”
Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways has also unveiled a special health security plan targeting international tourists.
The company announced that it will provide complimentary medical services to foreign passengers visiting the UAE from July to December.
This arrangement is expected to reduce the financial burden on travelers in case of sudden health issues.
Over the past few months, the aviation sector in the West Asia has come under pressure due to regional tensions related to Iran.
Industry sources report that some flight routes had to be diverted, airspace was temporarily closed, and passenger bookings were affected.
According to analysts, as regional instability directly impacted the tourism industry, airlines have begun introducing additional benefits and security programs to restore passenger confidence.
Meanwhile, a digital memorandum of understanding (MoU) is has been signed to reduce tensions between the United States and Iran.
However, international analysts believe that further diplomatic talks will be necessary to achieve long-term peace and regional stability.
