CHITWAN: Preparations are in full swing in Bharatpur ahead of the Rastriya Swatantra Party’s (RSP) first general convention, scheduled from June 21–23, with hotels in the district nearing full occupancy and attendees being advised to prepare for intense heat.

Party leaders, delegates, observers, and supporters have already begun arriving, with central secretariat member Deepak Raj Bohara stating that arrivals will continue until the morning of June 21. The party has issued advisories urging participants to carry umbrellas, drinking water, and light clothing due to the ongoing heatwave in Chitwan.

To manage the expected crowd and reduce traffic congestion, attendees have been requested to limit the use of private and low-occupancy vehicles.

According to central committee member and accommodation coordinator Rajan Gautam, around 80 percent of delegates have already booked lodging, with over 3,000 hotel rooms expected to be occupied across Chitwan. The Hotel Association Chitwan has also announced discounts of 25 percent on accommodation and up to 10 percent on food and beverages for convention participants.

A large temporary “German hanger” structure has been set up at the Bharatpur Guest House Ground to host the main sessions, capable of accommodating around 15,000 people. The venue also includes LED screens, canopy tents, and designated seating arrangements for women, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.

Police estimate that nearly 300,000 people may attend the opening session. Superintendent of Police Rameshwar Poudel said parking arrangements have been designated based on entry routes, with vehicles from the east directed to the Central Bus Terminal and others to the Birendra Multiple Campus bypass ground.
