MYAGDI: A new cycling track has been constructed connecting Ghorepani and Poon Hill, a major tourist destination in Annapurna Rural Municipality-6.
Built by Annapurna Rural Municipality, the 4-kilometre trail aims to extend the stay of visitors in the popular trekking region. The track was jointly inaugurated by current Chairperson Bharat Kumar Pun and former Chairperson Dam Bahadur Pun.
The Rs 600,000 project for fiscal year 2025/26 links Poon Hill with Phaleghar via Lunglung Siddha and Laligurans Park, offering cyclists a scenic ride through rhododendron forests at an altitude of 3,210 meters.
Officials said the trail is expected to enhance tourism activities in the region, which is known for panoramic views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri and other Himalayan peaks.
Further expansion of cycling and horse-riding trails in nearby areas is also planned under future tourism development programmes.
