DANG: Municipal Judicial Committees in Dang district are struggling to deliver effective local justice due to a shortage of legal experts and trained personnel.

Although the Constitution mandates municipalities to form Judicial Committees led by vice-chairs to settle local disputes, officials say the absence of legal officers has significantly weakened their functioning.

Bhakta Bahadur GC, Vice-Chair of Bangalachuli Rural Municipality, said the lack of skilled human resources has affected case handling and overall efficiency. Similarly, Pima Oli (Khadka), Vice-Chair of Dangisharan Rural Municipality, noted that without legal support, committees are often compelled to seek guidance from the district court.

In Babai Rural Municipality, Vice-Chair Bam Kumari Khadka said determining jurisdiction and properly categorizing complaints has become increasingly difficult without legal expertise.

Local representatives have urged the prompt appointment of legal officers to strengthen the effectiveness of judicial committees at the local level.
