Twelve injured in Rolpa bus accident

ROLPA: Twelve passengers were injured when a passenger bus overturned on the Ghorahi-Thabang Shahid Marga (Martyr Way) at Kholwang in Madi Rural Municipality-2, Rolpa.

The bus (Registration No. Ra 1 Kha 3101) was en route to Ghorahi from Thabang when it suffered a sudden brake failure while navigating an uphill stretch of the road, causing it to flip over onto the highway.

There were 29 people on board, including the driver, at the time of the accident. The 12 passengers who sustained minor injuries were immediately rescued from the scene and rushed to Smriti Hospital in Ghartigaon, Madi Rural Municipality-2, for medical treatment.

According to local authorities, the bus was driven by 32-year-old Santosh Kami, a resident of Thabang Rural Municipality-3, Rolpa. Following the accident, the highway remained temporarily obstructed with the vehicle stranded at the crash site. Further details regarding the incident are awaited as police continue their investigation.
