KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a habeas corpus petition today (Tuesday) challenging the detention of CPN (UML) leader and former Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, with the petitioner claiming he is being held unlawfully.
According to the court’s cause list, the petition will be heard by a joint bench of Justices Tek Prasad Dhungana and Megh Raj Pokharel.
The petition was filed after the Special Court authorized investigators to keep Paudel in custody and proceed with the investigation.
Paudel’s wife, Domaya, lodged the habeas corpus petition with the Supreme Court on June 24, arguing that her husband has been subjected to illegal detention following the Special Court’s remand order.
