Minister Rawal, Madhesh Chief Minister Yadav hold talks on local governance

KATHMANDU: Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration Pratibha Rawal and Madhesh Province Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav held talks on resolving issues facing local government units and strengthening coordination among the federal, provincial, and local governments.

According to the minister’s secretariat, the meeting focused on employee management, staff matching, budget formulation, and other challenges at the local level. Yadav said the provincial government is aware of the issues and is committed to taking the necessary initiatives to help address them.

Rawal said the ministry had deployed teams led by three joint secretaries to facilitate local budget formulation and gather on-site information on the needs and challenges of local government units through consultations with municipal chiefs, deputy chiefs, and officials.

She said effective coordination among the federal, provincial, and local levels is essential to addressing local-level challenges and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to making local units more organized, effective, and citizen-oriented. House of Representatives member Rahabar Ansari, ministry secretaries, and joint secretaries also attended the meeting.
