KATHMANDU: Nepal’s capital budget implementation remains sluggish for the fiscal year 2025/26, with only 35.12% (Rs 143.23 billion) of the allocated Rs 407.88 billion spent by June 29.
As the Financial Procedures and Fiscal Accountability Act bans issuing payment checks after July 9, the government faces a tight eight-working-day window to clear its bills.
To hit its revised annual spending target of 61.63%, officials must now rush through an average of Rs 13.52 billion in daily payments.
Meeting the original, full budget target would require an impossible daily expenditure of Rs 33.08 billion.
