KATHMANDU: The Special Court has extended the remand of CPN (UML) Vice-Chair and former Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel by an additional six days for further investigation by the Department of Money Laundering Investigation.
The extension was granted by a bench of Judges Hemanta Rawal, Dilli Ratna Shrestha, and Umesh Koirala on Thursday, marking his third remand extension following previous seven-day and three-day terms.
Concurrently, the Supreme Court is conducting a hearing on a habeas corpus petition filed on June 24 by Paudel’s wife, Domaya, who claims his detention is illegal.
In connection with the ongoing case, a joint Supreme Court bench of Judges Tek Prasad Dhungana and Meghraj Pokharel on Tuesday had ordered the retrieval of related case files.
