KATHMANDU: Landslides triggered by incessant rain have blocked several roads across Karnali Province, bringing the road traffic to standstill on those roads.
According to Abhi Narayan Kafle, Spokesperson of the Nepal Police, a landslide has completely blocked the Jajarkot-Dolpa road section at Maluwa, Nalagaad municipality in Jajarkot district.
Likewise, Rukum Ghorahi Shahid Marga has been shut down by the landslide that occurred at Harning of Maadi rural municipality-6 in Rolpa district on Monday, informed Spokesperson Kafle.
Similarly, the Bheri Corridor, which has been completely closed following a flood in Rejegar river at Aathbiskot municipality in Rukum Paschim on July 1, remains closed.
Some major highways and roads that were blocked by heavy rainfall have since reopened for one-way or partial traffic. Efforts are continuing to reopen other obstructed roads, Kafle added.
With the monsoon active across the country, Nepal Police have urged the public to avoid travel until highways that are completely blocked are reopened.
Police have also appealed to travelers to observer precautions and travel only when absolutely necessary on roads that are currently open.
