KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal has expressed gratitude to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for granting royal amnesty to 111 Nepali prisoners on the occasion of Eid al-Adha 2026.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the humanitarian gesture reflects the deep friendship and cordial bilateral relations between Nepal and the UAE.

According to the ministry, the amnesty was granted by the UAE government in response to a request submitted by the Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi under the ministry’s instruction.

The ministry said the pardoned Nepali citizens will be able to return to Nepal after completing the necessary legal and administrative procedures under UAE law, provided they have no other pending legal cases or travel restrictions.
