Nepal, Cambodia agree to deepen cooperation against trafficking and cybercrime

Phnom Penh: Nepal’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia Dhan Bahadur Oli held talks with Cambodia’s Permanent Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Eat Sophea on Monday, with the two sides agreeing to strengthen cooperation against human trafficking, online scam operations, cybercrime and other forms of transnational organized crime.

According to the Embassy of Nepal in Bangkok, Thailand, the meeting also covered expanding cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, education, agriculture and public health. Ambassador Oli thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for assisting in the rescue of Nepali nationals from online scam compounds.

Both sides also discussed promoting Buddhist tourism by strengthening links between Lumbini, Nepal, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, and Angkor Wat, Cambodia, and agreed to convene the Nepal-Cambodia Bilateral Consultation Mechanism at an early date.
