KATHMANDU: At least five people lost their lives and 88 others sustained injuries in various road accidents recorded across the country over a 24-hour period, according to official data released by Nepal Police.
Madhesh Province reported the highest number of casualties, where road mishaps claimed two lives and left 30 people injured. Separate traffic incidents also resulted in one fatality each in Koshi Province, Lumbini Province, and the federal capital, Kathmandu.
While no fatalities occurred in the remaining regions, significant injuries were recorded elsewhere. Koshi Province saw 25 individuals injured, Kathmandu reported 14 injuries, and Bagmati Province recorded nine injuries.
Furthermore, six people were injured in Lumbini Province, three in Sudurpashchim Province, and one in Karnali Province. No casualties or major accidents were reported in Gandaki Province during this 24-hour window.
Authorities continue to urge motorists and commuters to practice caution on the highways and local roads to mitigate further risks.
