KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle emphasized the need to strengthen the Department of Money Laundering Investigation during a Legislative Management Committee meeting on Wednesday.
He stated that amendments to the Anti-Money Laundering Act aim to centralize financial crime investigations, adding that discussions are underway regarding the creation of a dedicated entity to oversee all economic crimes.
Minister Wagle noted that some provisions were revised to prevent the misuse of complaints meant to harass individuals.
He also highlighted that the current government has worked effectively to keep Nepal off the international ‘Grey List’ since taking office.
Following the discussion, the committee approved the revised Anti-Money Laundering Act.
