KATHMANDU: Four committees under the Federal Parliament—Parliamentary Hearing; Law, Justice, and Human Rights; Agriculture and Natural Resources; and Women and Social Affairs—are holding separate meetings today in Singha Durbar.
Notably, the Parliamentary Hearing Committee will convene at 9:30 AM to initiate hearings for the newly recommended leadership of the Election Commission, following the vacancy left by retired Chief Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya.
The Constitutional Council recently recommended Man Bahadur Karki for Chief Election Commissioner, alongside Dr. Rajiv Subba and Guru Wagle as commissioners.
Meanwhile, the remaining committees are addressing localized administrative and human rights issues.
The Agriculture Committee is reviewing parliamentary field-monitoring reports on the Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC), the Law and Human Rights Committee is discussing juvenile correction home conditions and seeking extensions for prison monitoring sub-committees and the Women and Social Affairs Committee is updating its internal operational procedures.
